There is something profoundly different about hearing a story told by a living human being in the company of other people. It reminds us that we belong to something larger than ourselves. It invites us to listen not only with our minds, but with our whole being.
Storytelling has always gathered us. Long before movies and social media, people came together to listen, laugh, wonder, celebrate, grieve and make sense of what it means to be human. That ancient impulse hasn't disappeared. Whether stories are told in a conference room, around a fire, at a community gathering or in a workshop, they continue to create moments of connection that people carry with them long after the event itself.
This is the work I love: creating those moments. Sometimes that means telling a traditional folktale or myth. Sometimes it's sharing a personal story, offering a keynote, opening a workshop with a carefully chosen tale, or designing a storytelling experience for a gathering. Sometimes it means creating spaces where other people discover the courage to tell their own stories.
Storytelling has a remarkable way of turning a room full of individuals into a community. Again and again, I've watched people leave feeling more connected—to one another, to themselves, and to the human experience we all share.
